ೃ⁀➷ being jun-ho's s/o would include ¡!
in which you're romantically involved with the police officer doing his best to find his brother and put a stop to the squid games
a/n : lots of love to my dearest friend @angelseraphines for not only getting me into this brilliantly-written show, but also for looking over my fic to double-check my characterisation and to give me a second opinion on it. if you aren't already following her, please go ahead and make sure that you do so 🙏
also this turned into a full-on fic please just roll with the punches 🙏bit of a cliche first date but I fear that I have very little dating experience so you guys are gonna have to deal with that, I fear.
Tumblr media
╰┈➤ it was the middle of winter when you met the policeman for the first time. the air was crisp and frigid, icicles were hanging from rooftops and everywhere you turned you could see colourful outfits in contrast with the white snow and hear the sound of shovels scraping against sidewalks. a kind-eyed man in a reflective green vest caught your attention at the same time a car smacked a young woman and drove off.
╰┈➤ you stepped forward to testify, wanting to help out the woman. she thankfully didn't appear to be in critical danger, save for the bruising on her hip and the apparent fracture in her left hand — and so you headed off with them to the station to give your statement. the woman was allowed to give her statement and leave immediately, due to the obvious state her hand was in and her need to visit a hospital. you were left then with the kind-eyed officer from earlier, who brought you a sizzling cup of hot chocolate and sat down to wait with you until you could sign off on your witness testimony.
╰┈➤ talking with him was so relaxing for you. it felt as if you had known him for years and the banter between you and him felt natural and light. you couldn't remember when was the last time you laughed that much — little did you know that he felt the same way.
╰┈➤ as you headed off to leave, your eyes searched for him amongst the worn-out chairs and stacked files. you wanted a chance to say goodbye, regardless of the dread gathering in your chest at the thought that you'd never see him again. you were disappointed when one of his colleagues informed you that he had to head off back to his post — that was until you were handed a slip of paper with his name and number on it. he was far too professional to make the move himself, but his colleague could see you two liked one another and took it upon himself to push you towards him. with a grateful smile and a glint of unadulterated joy in your eyes, you left the building and headed off to meet up with the friend you'd made plans with that day. you would be a little late, but you were sure she wouldn't mind once you told her about your day.
╰┈➤ admittedly, it took you a couple of days to call the handsome officer, whose name you now knew to be hwang jun-ho. every time you picked up the phone, your legs would become jittery and you'd find yourself pacing around your room. a little seed of doubt took its root within you, but on the fourth day you finally gave in and pressed the call button. once he recognised your voice, his lips curled into a smile on the other end of the line. he was a bit concerned when his colleague gave you his number, but he was glad to see that you weren't put off by it. on that cold winter's night, you talked and talked until you both fell asleep grasping your phones, the line still on.
╰┈➤ these cozy evening calls became routine for the two of you, with him initiating them when he got off work. you learned more about him — that he was close with his mom, that he was set to get a promotion soon and that he wanted to work in major crimes as a detective someday and that he would often look in on his brother when he had some spare time. he didn't talk much about him, but you got the feeling that whatever it was his brother experienced wasn't something you wanted to press him much on — so you didn't. he made the effort to ask you more about yourself as well, so you talked to him about your job, your family, and your friends. you talked to him about your hobbies, the places you wanted to visit, and the things that made you happy. neither of you had ever really felt so comfortable, so quickly with another person — it was a lovely feeling, one that you both desperately latched onto.
╰┈➤ a couple of weeks after you started talking, jun-ho finally managed to get a day off. his tone of voice was dignified, yet dulcet as he invited you to go see a movie and then to dinner with him. you replied immediately and enthusiastically, gripping the phone so tightly in your hand that it almost felt like you could break it if you squeezed it in just a slightly tighter manner.
╰┈➤ like a true gentleman, he picked you up from your apartment on the day of the date and you found yourself glancing at him admiringly as he drove, trying his hardest to keep his eyes on the road and not on you. when you arrived at the cinema, you were surprised to see that the movie he got tickets for was the one you'd been raving to him about for weeks. "I wasn't sure if you wanted to go see it with a friend, but I figured it would make for a pretty good first date" he admitted with a hint of humour in his voice. you responded by telling him you thought it was a wonderful idea.
╰┈➤ the cinema hall was dark, illuminated only by the gleam of the screen as the opening scene of the movie was unfolding. he had to admit that the plot was intriguing, but he found himself glancing down at you every so often. halfway through the film, he found the courage to extend his hand, and you grasped it into yours as gleeful smile made its way onto your face. even as your hands began to feel a bit sweaty, you couldn't bring yourselves to let go.
╰┈➤ on the way to the restaurant, you launched yourselves into a proper conversation about the movie, laughing and joking about its points and twists as the rosy sunset gave way to a melancholy dusk. the staff and guests moved around in a lively manner, as the sound of glass and ceramic reverbated through the room — and the view from the windows was absolutely breathtaking. you could tell that he'd done his best to keep your preferences in mind when he was looking for a place to take you to. you held his hand across the table as you waited for the food to arrive, and you spent the better part of the evening comfortably talking to one another. every so often, his eyes would dart to your lips, but he made no move to reach across the table — not yet, at least.
╰┈➤ his shoes were crunching on the frozen ground as he followed you to your front door, and as you turned back to see your goodbye, he leaned in and gave you a gentle kiss on the lips — one which you eagerly reciprocated. he pressed a gentle kiss to both of your hands before he departed, and he called you once again as he got home.
╰┈➤ it didn't take long after that for the two of you to become an official couple. you began to visit him at work when you had the time, and he'd take an hour or two after work was done to slip by and spend some time with you. you would lounge on your couch with a glass of wine in your hand — if he was staying the night he'd drink a few too, and if he wasn't then he'd drink some tea.
╰┈➤ he would feel awful about waking you early in the morning when he had to return to his apartment and get ready for work, but he always made sure to write you a note and find your kettle so you could boil water for tea or coffee when you got up. he always kissed your forehead and whispered a sentence or two of affection before he left. he knew you couldn't hear him, but he felt the need to say them nonetheless.
╰┈➤ realistically, it wouldn't take long for you to meet his mother and brother. jun-ho always made time to visit her, and in-ho had given him his kidney. they were a close-knit family and he wanted the people most important to him to meet the person he was rapidly becoming more and more serious with. his brother seemed quiet and solemn, but he wasn't unkind. save for your greeting and goodbye, you only exchanged a few awkward words — most of which were just polite questions. you got the underlying feeling that he was a very tormented man, and the sight of a family photo on the counter with his arms wrapped around an unfamiliar woman confirmed your suspicions. jun-ho's mother, on the other hand, was incredibly warm and welcoming. she trusted her son's judgement, and she embraced you as if she'd met you a thousand times before. she prepared a fantastic meal, and she showed you photos of jun-ho and in-ho throughout their childhood. your joyous laughter echoed through the room as the younger of the two brothers covered his face with his hands. when it was time to return home, you found yourself hesitant to leave the warm atmosphere of the older woman's apartment — she made you promise to come visit her often. you agreed enthusiastically.
╰┈➤ when you returned home that evening, you asked him about his brother. he opened up to you then, about all the things he'd never really talked about. about the week his brother went missing a couple of years ago, about the death of his brother's pregnant wife and about the kidney he received from his brother. his voice was on the verge of breaking as he uttered out one string of words after the other, and his eyes began to gloss over. you held him close then, and from that moment on it was as if he could tell you anything — trust you with everything. it was the turning point between being two people who truly liked eachother to being partners.
╰┈➤ the change from living apart to living together was pretty seamless. at one point, you both realised that most of his stuff was already at your place and you just ended up moving the rest of it in. from that point on, he never really had to worry about going back to his place or getting up extremely early to get ready for work. you'd stay awake huddled under the blankets with his arms wrapped around you as you kept one another up to date with what you got up to during the day, and what you wanted to do as soon as you found some free time.
╰┈➤ if you're out together and he sensed that the chill from the cold weather outside is getting to you, he'd sneakily slip his jacket around your shoulders and offer you a teasing quip as he zipped it up with a light smirk on his face. your protests of not being that cold would be met with an exasperated look.
╰┈➤ you didn't hear him the first time he told you he loved you. as he kissed your forehead and whispered to you in the morning, it simply slipped out. he didn't realise it until he spoke it out loud. when he returned home that evening, those were the first words out of his mouth — and you said it back. after that, he always made to include his declarations of love in his morning notes, and they were the first and last words on his lips each time you said your helloes and goodbyes.
╰┈➤ you're there for him as he climbs the ranks in the police, and you'll never forget the look on his face when he came home with the news of finally receiving his promotion to detective. he spun you around as he placed kisses on your face, and you leaned in and kissed him with passion to show him just how proud of him you were. he took you out to celebrate that evening, and he took you to the same restaurant where you had your first date. it would go on to become your go-to place for celebrating special occasions. the following day, you went to visit his mother. tears of joy slipped from her eyes as she embraced him, and it wasn't long before she drew you into her embrace as well. it was the first time you saw something that didn't look like grief or sadness in his brother's eyes. you saw pride.
╰┈➤ he definitely wants to get married, and the two of you have talked about it, but both of you want to have a wedding when the entire family feels like they can actually celebrate. the dark cloud of grief that seems to constantly hang over in-ho's head has encouraged you both to wait a while. regardless, you two have already discussed so many of the details — the song you'd like to have for your first dance, the colour palette, the season when you'd like to have it in and where.
╰┈➤ he's incredibly observant, a trait that has helped him in both his private and professional life. he remembers the little things about you — he keeps track of the things you talk to him about, notes the ways in which your features contort when you see something you like or dislike, and goes out of his way to make your life easier in small ways.
╰┈➤ when you are both too tired to get ready and get ready for a proper date, but still want to do more than simply stay inside the whole time, he'll take you for a drive around the city. sometimes you get stuck in traffic, sometimes you get to breeze through the vibrant streets. for these dates, you have two playlists — one made up of both yours and his favourite songs, and another made up of ballads and romantic declarations weaved into music. which one you end up putting on depends on the atmosphere, but the second one tends to be the one you play when you park atop a cliff and take some time to glance at the stars.
╰┈➤ he rarely ever gets jealous, because he's confident in your relationship and he trusts you. that being said, he is incredibly protective — and he's always watching out for you. this bleeds into his affectionate nature, and the hand wrapped around your shoulder when you're out and about means two things. one, that he wants to be close to you and this is his way of expressing it. two, that he's warding off any unwanted attention and anybody who would seek to do you harm. he's a detective, so of course he's great at multi-tasking.
╰┈➤ while he mostly saves flowers for special occasions, he goes out of his way to get you baked goods when he's on his way back from work. you remarked once on how the pastries he brought you from the bakery near his station reminded you of something you ate regularly in your childhood, and he was nothing if not attentive. he didn't always bring home the same stuff — but he kept track of which treats you were craving the most and acted accordingly.
╰┈➤ if you get caught out in the rain, he's the type of guy who will keep his jacket above your head to try and keep you from getting drenched by the rainfall — or at the very least drape it around you, if you're wearing something that becomes see-through when it comes into contact with water. his focus is on your comfort in those moments.
╰┈➤ he finally proposed to you on your three-year anniversary, at the same restaurant where the two of you had your first date. while marriage was something you discussed, he still managed to surprise you with the proposal, and you agreed with tears welling in your eyes and your heart thumping nearly out of your chest. one of the first people you called was his mother, and you made sure to send the colleague that slipped you jun-ho's number a baskets of flowers and baked goods. he left a good portion of the planning to you, as busy as he is with his job, but he always offered his opinion and showed you that he cared immensely when you'd ask him for it.
╰┈➤ a couple of months after you announced your engagement, and with preparations underway — his brother disappeared. this wasn't the first time of course, but it was only the second time he didn't leave a message or let anyone know of his whereabouts. the last time this happened, his pregnant wife passed away, so naturally you, jun-ho and his mother were all worried. a couple of days into his brother's disappearance, your fiancee called to tell you that he was following a lead on his brother's disappearance — something with slip of cardboard with weird symbols and some man his colleagues perceived as crazy. after that, you couldn't get hold of him.
╰┈➤ when he did resurface, a couple of weeks later, he turned up bloodied and with a bullet in his shoulder on some old sea captain's boat. you looked after him then, tending to his wound and making sure that it didn't get infected, redressing it, and helping him with mundane tasks he struggled with now that his shoulder was injured. he was eerily secretive about it at first, and all you knew was the tidbits you managed to get from his coworkers — about some strange island and some sickening freaks making indebted people play children's games and then killing them for sport. you were confused, but you didn't press him until he was ready to talk to you about it.
╰┈➤ in the dark of the night, as he was leaning on the bathroom sink and you were pressing cold ice against the torn and injured flesh left by an unknown man's gun, he started talking to you about it. about following the strange man into a limousine where they doused all the passengers with some sleeping agent, about sneaking onto a ship and strangling one of the workers there, consequently tossing his body into the depths of the vast sea. as he spoke about all the death he witnessed, about the man with one kidney the workers cut up and whose organs they trafficked, about the sickening rich man who attempted to force himself onto him and about escaping the island, only to be tracked down as he attempted to send the proof he'd gathered and was met with horrendous cell signal and a masked man's gun. he didn't tell you about his brother, couldn't condemn him in such a way. that was the only part he kept to himself.
╰┈➤ your habit of staying up together in the night became more frequent than it had ever been. when he did sleep, he was always mumbling something about in-ho and the lines on his forehead and the manner in which he was squeezing his eyes made him look nearly as if he was in pain. you would coax him back from the turmoil he was re-experiencing in his sleep and into reality. neither of you went back to sleep on nights like those, and his grasp on you was so firm as if he was afraid you might disappear if he attempted to loosen it.
╰┈➤ he'd quit his job and went back to handling traffic then, and you understood he needed his time to grieve — a reprieve from death and the most distorted cases that hit the station's desk. you got married soon after, as the realisation that life was far too short to worry about semantics settled in his bones, and the fear of losing him intensified in you after what he'd gone through. you still kept the most important parts of what you'd planned out - the song for your first dance, the place where you wanted to celebrate, the people you wanted in roles of honour. it was a small and private affair, witnessed only by those the two of you felt were most deserving and close. you hoped to hold another celebration once in-ho returned, if he ever did — your husband already knew that he would not.
╰┈➤ once he starts working with gi-hun, he fills you in on what they're doing. he doesn't want you to worry, he couldn't put you through what you experienced back when you didn't know if he was dead or alive. you demand that they let you in, that they allow you to help them look for the man in the black mask. you couldn't stomach the thought of him setting off with you again, to do something so perilous and frightening. he's hesitant at first, and refuses to even consider the idea. upon realising that you don't intend to give up, and that you'll join him for it whether he likes it or not — he relents, but demands you don't put yourself in harm's way.
╰┈➤ on the night of halloween, as you all set out to find whoever is behind the black mask of the games' frontman, you head off with gi-hun. jun-ho worries about letting you go, but he still has faith in his brother not causing you any harm. he doesn't expect you to end up in the limo with gi-hun, as they take him back to the island for another week of twisted, death games.

a/n : thank you so much for reading this! if you find any inaccuracies with the show itself or with korean culture, please go out of your way to let me know how I may improve upon them and fix my mistakes 🙏🙏 I'm grateful to you for taking the time to read this fic, this is actually the first time I managed to finish a fic in a day (as opposed to my regular routine of taking a whole week to wrap up one set of headcanons). as always, I'm tagging other characters to increase my outreach, but the characters I'm tagging are only the ones I also write for — in case you want to request anything for them.

Synopsis: Your grey suited man has finally relinquished control
A/N: well, I did NOT see the story going this way! But, the more I write for him the more I can’t help but see him as a secret sub. He’s so dark and evil during the day, but I can see him being so needy for his woman at night. So yeah, I guess this is now a Sub!Salesman storyline 🤗 but he’s still completely insane
Also, for the alleyway scene in this fic, I was deffo picturing this gif:
Tumblr media
There was something so intimate about relinquishing control. It gave him a sense of freedom he’d never felt before, a kind of peace he was sure he’d never know. Since telling you his name, his world had altered, had taken on a new meaning. He was always so sure he’d wanted to control you, to torture you until you broke; it was a force of habit, really. He’d always been good at breaking things, of tearing even the strongest people down until they were nothing but withered shells. But somewhere along the line, his desires towards you had changed. You’d brought something new to his life; love.
It was an odd feeling, one that he’d never felt before. He’d been so sure that he was entirely incapable of feeling anything towards any living thing, and at first it at felt uncomfortable. It was uncomfortable the way his heart physically ached for you, the feeling seeping down into the pit of his stomach in a wave of delicious heat that tied itself in knots around his senses. At first he’d been sure he was having a heart attack, or possibly a stroke, but he was convinced that neither of those things were supposed to feel pleasurable, not like he felt when he was with you. He missed you when you weren’t around, and craved you when you were. He was like a loyal dog, blindly following you whenever you went.
He found it hard to concentrate at work, always wondering what you were doing. He wanted to know how your day was, what you were having for lunch, what time you’d be home, how the kids in your classes were getting on. Love was inconvenient, love was a distraction, but he was beyond the point of caring. He’d almost made mistakes at work, and mistakes in his job were simply out of the question. He had to figure out a way of getting you out of his head, had to find a way to block you from his brain during the day. But no matter how hard he tried, you always managed to worm your way back in.
You were living with him now, his desire to be with you so strong that he simply couldn’t face living apart. He enjoyed seeing your things in his home; your perfumes and lotions next to his cologne, your clothes hanging up next to his in the closet. He found himself excited to come home, to bask in the domestic mundanity of ordinary life. You liked to read, and the two of you would lie across his expansive leather sofa, his head in your lap as you played with his hair, both engrossed in your own novels. He was worried you were making him weak, turning him into the kind of man he enjoyed breaking. There were days he couldn’t make it until the evening to see you, showing up at your school to meet you for lunch, or walking you home after the day had ended.
He allowed you full control in the bedroom, bending to your every will and desire. He was so pitifully grateful on the nights you gave him the power back, allowing him to feel in control again for a brief moment. But you were the one calling the shots now, and for the first time in his life, he didn’t care.
As his love for you grew however, so did his disdain for others. He’d always been the jealous type, had never liked to share. He found it harder to maintain his cool when you were out, his eyes constantly scanning the crowds to see if anyone had the gall to try and undress you with their eyes. There was always someone he could pick out, someone who looked at you the wrong way, who walked a little too close to you. One day when you stopped for coffee, a man had the audacity to queue jump, pushing past you as if you were invisible. That man ended up with a broken nose and two black eyes, left to cower in the alleyway behind the cafe as your grey suited man stamped repeatedly on his ribs until you told him to stop. He’d been a fool to think you were making him weak; you were only making him stronger.
You still had so many questions about the man who worshipped you like you were a goddess. You knew he was dangerous; had seen him take a man’s life and beat another one almost to death because they had disrespected you. He’d gone from stalking you like a cat stalks a mouse to begging for your attention, your validation. He was a man who would crawl through broken shards of glass if you asked him to. You knew virtually nothing about his family, only that he had parents, but he no longer spoke to them. You never met any of his friends, never met any of his colleagues. Your belief about his job in sales and recruitment was dubious. He dressed in custom Versace suits and Prada loafers, and you didn’t know any sales job that paid that well. You were hesitate to quiz him though; he treated you like royalty, giving you everything you’d desired and more, along with an undying, almost obsessive love he showered you in.
As much as he loved you, he couldn’t quite bring himself to say it. It was a terrifying word, one that had never left his lips before. He’d never even told his parents that he loved them, because in truth he hadn’t. Until you came along, he viewed everyone with a quiet distaste. People were a nuisance, a waste of time unless they had something you needed. He hoped you knew how much he loved you though, hoped his devotion to you showed through his actions. He showered you in gifts, did everything around the house so you never had to lift a finger, marked your students essays on the nights you were too tired. He was your servant in the bedroom, living only to please you.
He’d been scared at first, scared when he realised he was happy to let you dominate him. He’d always been in control, had always been the one calling the shots, but he’d never realised how good it could feel to be the one treated like a dog. He found immense pleasure in fulfilling your every desire, of letting you use him like a toy. His work required him to always be alert, to always ensure no one bested him. It became a relief to come home at night and allow himself to be told what to do.
He was enjoying this life with you, a life of domestic bliss he never thought he’d crave. You were by no means a conventional couple, but it worked for you.
You knew he had a dark side, had seen it many times. And yet he played the doting boyfriend so well. You didn’t care how dangerous he was, how devilish his desires were when it came to toying with others. With you, he craved nothing but your love and respect. And you were happy to give it to him, your submissive, grey suited man.

Conjuring up a Hogwarts life series au bc the Harry Potter fixsation came in full swing. (if anyone has a Hogwarts house and is like a big fan lemme know but I couldn't remember and its like one am)
Pearl’s Gryffindor fight me on this. I'll win
Scott’s a hufflepuff but we all knew this.
Gem could be either Hufflepuff or Slytherin. But I'm leaning more towards Slytherin bc that girl is very cunning. But she's also loyal to her loved ones till the end. And that's very Hufflepuff. Either way the vibes she gives off are the opposite of her house.
Grian’s a ravenclaw, i could also see Slytherin in his case in a banarby/ominis kinda way (Hogwarts game fans where we at?)
Jimmy’s a Gryffindor case closed. He was like ‘pls make me hufflepuff’ and the hat went ‘no you too brave’ (Neville Longbottom core)
Ethos a ravenclaw as is Mumbo. They both are very smart and I feel like they did all this research before coming to magic school. (mumbo’s a muggleborn but ill Yap abt that in another post)
Joel was definitely a hatstall between like all the houses. I feel like he ended up in Gryffindor just in the end, but that man could go anywhere reasonably.
Tango’s in Gryffindor, BigB’s in Slytherin, Cleo's in Slytherin, Impulse is Ravenclaw? Skizz is hufflepuff. Bdubs is Ravenclaw or hufflepuff, Ren’s like the truest Gryffindor of all time.
I think Martyn would be good for any house besides Hufflepuff just because of limited life. I also want to put him in Slytherin for limited life, but I don't know if I can reasonably make him and Ren argue over quittach bc they both would absolutely play. (dogwarts just Gryffindor team? I know I put them in different houses shhhh)
Lizzy would eat as a Slytherin. But she would be the most picture perfect hufflepuff. But I might just put her in Slytherin just bc I can.
Scar is such an anomaly to me like he's fun and brave (Gryffindor) but he’s sneaky and cunning (Slytherin) he's actually really smart (Ravenclaw) but he's super loyal (Hufflepuff) I think it ends up being just Slytherin and Gryffindor but from there I can't pick.
I’ll make up others houses as I go but I feel like these fit. I’m not sure. (btw I don't support JK but hp was my first hyperfixsation and they never never really go away)

𝐆𝐄𝐓 𝐓𝐇𝐄 𝐇𝐈𝐍𝐓 𖥔 ࣪˖ ( MIYA ATSUMU X FEM!READER )
noticing small changes is difficult at first, but when they start becoming so visible it’s hard to not overthink stuff, but miya atsumu definitely wasn’t in love with you, right? even when it was painfully obvious.
★ genre: fluff | content: friends to lovers, fluff, jealousy, actions speaking louder than words.
★ author’s note: now that i have a job i’ve been buying a lot of atsumu merch, i’m gonna end up broke.
Tumblr media
O1 . BACKPACK
You and Atsumu always played rock, paper, scissors after school to decide who was carrying the backpacks, usually, you were the loser, and he always made sure to rub it in your face.
He was lazy, he never wanted to carry anyone’s backpacks, especially not yours; so this rock, paper, scissors game worked perfectly for him —since he already knew you always picked scissors first.
“I won again!” he said, sticking his tongue out at you.
“Not fair! Let’s play again.” you crossed your arms over your chest, glaring at him.
“C’mon, we already played 3 times, yer a loser.” he said, throwing his backpack at you.
You catch it with both hands, groaning slightly as you glared at him.
“Oh, come on! My back hurts today.” you complained “I fell on my back today.”
“Ya fell?” he laughed.
“Fucking Kino threw the ball at me way too hard! That was a hate crime.” he laughed again so you hit him on the shoulder “Shut up!”
“Sorry, sorry.” he smiled “Does it hurt or what?”
“A little bit.”
“Are ya that weak? Geez, no wonder why yer always tired in p.e. class.” he snickered.
“You know I hate you?” you rolled your eyes, placing his backpack on your shoulder.
“I figured.” he stole his and your backpack from your hands, placing them over his shoulders.
You looked at him with a confused look before smirking, he scoffed and looked away.
“‘m only gonna take ‘em today, cause yer hurt, alright?”
That was the first time that Atsumu, on his own willing, carried your backpack for you.
Then there was a second time.
Then a third one.
And suddenly you realize that now you barely carried your backpack after school. At first you were happy about that, and teased him about being your servant, but then you started to feel a bit bad cause he was always carrying your stuff; and even when you insisted on helping, he would brush you off.
“Yer too week, I don’t want yer back to get hurt.”
“I already have it on me.”
“Don’t complain, ‘m helpin’ ya.”
You thought it was weird that he was acting so nice, but you figured maybe he changed his ways and wanted to be nicer, besides, it was great not having to carry your heavy backpack; so you finally let it happen with no complaints.
Tumblr media
O2 . FOOD
Atsumu absolutely hated when people ate his food, he didn’t even let his own brother grab a cookie from his lunch.
Either way, you didn’t cared if he didn’t liked it, you always found a way to steal a bit of his food, and he was always loud when you did it, calling you names and pulling your arms so you wouldn’t get to steal another onigiri.
You were used to that, and still, you didn’t even noticed when that changed. It started small and it was easy to not notice a change, but soon enough his brother pointed out how Atsumu didn’t got mad at you anymore when you stole his food, he didn’t budged and just gave you a small glance before going back to eating.
You thought about it for a bit and decided to test it, grabbing some of his tuna when he was just about to eat it.
“Hm, this one doesn’t taste that good as the one you brought yesterday.” you said after swallowing the food.
He looked between you and the tuna, then he started eating without budging “Yeah, ‘samu did the one yesterday.”
“That explains it, you’re a terrible cook.” he glared at you, making you chuckle “Respectfully.”
You noticed him rolling his eyes, but you got nothing more than that after stealing his food; so you decided to ask him to see if his reaction would change.
“Can I have some of your chips, ‘tsumu?”
“Open ‘em.” he said, handing you the bag of chips “Just make sure no one else eats ‘em.” and with that, he continued eating.
You gave him a weird look, raising and eyebrow.
You were so used to him yelling at you that it felt strange that he wasn't doing it. For some reason, it made you feel guilty, again. It felt better to steal food from him and have him yelling at you, rather than him handing it to you.
“You know what? I’m not hungry.” you said, handing him the bag of chips “Thanks though.”
That was the last time you attempted to eat from his food, unless he vocally expressed he wanted to share his food from you.
He even looked bothered by the fact you weren’t stealing his food anymore, but your best friend loved his food, so you sure were imagining things.
Tumblr media
O3 . TWINS
Even if Atsumu and Osamu fought all the time, they were still brothers, they were still twins. They still told everything to each other —even if they pretended to not listen—, and they still wanted to help each other.
So even if you tried to stop yourself from overthinking, it wasn’t an easy task. You felt like the twins knew something about you that not even you knew. It was weird, of course, but it felt like they were working against you or about you.
They would whisper at each other when you passed by them, and you always saw them sharing looks when you hung out with them. To be honest, you felt left out, it felt like you were missing something.
Normally, you would tell the twins about your current concern, but in this case, they were the current concern, so you decided to rely on Aran.
“Don’t mind them.” he waved his hand in the air “They’re always all weird, same thing happened to me and turns out they just admired me a lot.” he smirked.
You chuckled “I don’t think they admire me, Aran, it’s easier to think they despise me.”
“You’re their best friend, they don’t hate you.” he assured you “They’re better than that.”
Aran’s words were reassuring, and you decided to stop focusing on the topic and let the twins do their own stuff.
Even when Osamu asked you weird and too specific questions about your love life.
Or when he suddenly canceled on plans last minute, making you and Atsumu stay alone.
Or when he exchanged weird looks with Atsumu whenever you spoke about boys.
All just coincidence’s.
Tumblr media
O4 . JEALOUSY
“Me ‘nd ‘samu we’re talkin’ the other day…” he took a bite of his burger “‘nd it would be pretty cool to go to the beach this weekend.”
“Don’t talk with your mouth full.” you chuckled, before sighing “The beach?”
He swallowed his food as he nodded “Yeah! The weather has been nice this past days.”
“I can’t this weekend.” you took a sip of your drink, watching his expression grow confused.
“What? Why?”
“I have plans with Kino and Shinji. Although I don’t think Shinji is gonna make it, so just me and Kino.”
Atsumu’s eyebrows visibly raised as he listened to your words. You continued eating, unaware of the way Atsumu’s stomach did a flip.
“Why are ya goin’ with them anyway?” he mumbled as he took a very small bite of his almost finished burger.
You scoffed “What do you mean why? They’re my friends.” you smiled.
“I thought they were just dudes in yer classroom.”
“No.” you chuckled “I’m actually friends with them, even when they’re a pain in the ass. I’m actually closer to Kino.” you said, thinking out loud.
Atsumu’s jaw clenched as he wrapped up what was left of the burger and threw it in the trash can.
“Weekends are for me, tho…” he said without thinking, quickly changing his words “—‘nd for ‘samu too.”
“Oh, come on, for one weekend that I don’t spend time with you? You’ll survive.”
Atsumu grumbled “I guess.”
Atsumu zoned out for a few seconds, deep in thought until he finally turned to see you.
“Isn’t Kino the guy ya went to eat with the other day?”
“Yeah, you remember him?” you smiled.
“Yeah. I actually do.”
Of course he did, Osamu is friends with one of Kino’s close friends, and he told Osamu that Kino had a big, fat crush on you. Of course he did. But you were his girl, his! How dare this other man disterup his precious time with you.
“Enjoy yer time with him, or whatever.” he sighed, rubbing the side of his neck as he tried to ease the feeling inside of him.
“I will.” you chuckled “We can go to the beach other day.”
“Sure.”
He didn’t understand why he was feeling like this, so bitter about you having other friendships besides him, other guys that liked you like he did —or maybe not like he did, cause he definitely liked you more than any ordinary guy ever will.
Tumblr media
O5 . TEXTS AND CALLS
Your phone vibrated with a notification, and you knew who it was even before you turned on your screen.
Atsumu, of course it was him.
Normally you couldn’t have a single conversation with him over text, since he was barely on his phone, always studying, training or playing some game with Osamu. He never checked his texts and it was a real challenge to try to get in contact with him during summer break cause he never answered.
You always told him it was like talking to a wall, truly, and he always scoffed and told you he was a busy man with a busy life.
But now all of that had changed, cause suddenly now he had so much time, apparently. Always texting you every time he wanted and could, spaming your phone. You two even did calls when he walked back home or when he went to the convenience store.
You didn’t knew when it changed, but you weren’t complaining. It was like having a puppy begging for attention 24/7. Kinda fun.
[ 9:20 p.m. ] i found a cat on the way back home and it fucking bit me
[ 9:20 p.m. ] i mean, the AUDACITY
[ 9:21 p.m. ] and also, i bought you some of those chips you wanted the other day, the disgusting ones 🥰
[ 9:21 p.m. ] yeah, i know, i’m the best. don’t thank me too much, it was all me
[ 9:21 p.m. ] also, APPARENTLY you don’t put spoons on the microwave, never knew that huh
[ 9:23 p.m. ] are you gonna answer or what
[ 9:23 p.m. ] HELLOOOO??????
[ 9:26 p.m. ] do you hate me or what
[ 9:30 p.m. ] YOU’RE LITERALLY ONLINE
[ 9:30 p.m. ] WHO ARE YOU ANSWERING TO 😐😐
[ 9:31 p.m. ] why won’t you answer meeeee
[ 9:40 p.m. ] what did i do? are you mad at me and that’s why you’re not answering?
[ 9:40 p.m. ] tell me and i’ll apologize
[ 9:40 p.m. ] i’ll get on my knees
[ 9:41 p.m. ] if i get a tattoo of your name on my whole chest will you forgive me and speak to me again?
[ 10:00 p.m. ] i was taking a bath. WHAT
[ 10:00 p.m. ] HEY OMG YOU DON’T HATE ME :3
[ 10:01 p.m ] cringe. and i do hate you
[ 10:01 p.m ] also, did your microwave exploded or what?
[ 10:02 p.m. ] i wasn’t aware of microwave instructions ok, leave me alone
[ 10:04 p.m ] you stupid
You chuckled to yourself as Atsumu started spamming even more texts. It was fun.
Soon enough you got a call, and you know you two were probably gonna fall asleep on the phone once again.
Tumblr media
O6 . PHYSICAL TOUCH
Atsumu was a sucker for physical touch, you knew that since you became friends with him. He was always bothering everyone, grabbing their hands, ruffling their hair, hugging them, any way that provided him physical touch worked for him!
It was something you were used to but not something you were always expecting, and also you were sure he wasn’t expecting any from you. Or so you thought, cause lately he’s been kinda whiny about it.
“So, see you tomorrow.” you waved at him as you closed your door after he dropped you off.
You went calmly upstairs, dropping your things in bed and then going to open the curtains and— there he was. Standing in front of the door with his arms crossed.
You raised an eyebrow and opened the window, yelling at him “The hell you’re doing?”
He looked up at you, huffing and then looking down again.
You rolled your eyes and closed your window again before making your way downstairs to see what he needed.
“What, weirdo?” you opened the door, just to see him pouting.
“Ya forgot to hug me goodbye.” he spoke through his teeth.
“Hug you goodbye?” you said with amusement.
“Yeah.” he looked down at him “Ya hate me or somethin’? Ya always hug me before ya leave.”
“Oh, my bad, king.” you mocked, before opening your arms and pulling him for a hug.
He whined but soon enough his arms wrapped around your waist, head buried into your shoulder.
You chuckled as you rolled your eyes, hands rubbing his back, feeling every muscle. Atsumu’s thumbs rubbed circles in the exposed skin of your lower back, he sighed, breathing in your soft scent.
“I’ll see you tomorrow.” you mumbled.
“Yeah.” he mumbled back “I’ll pick ya up.”
“Alright.”
“Alright.”
But none of you let go of the other.
Tumblr media
O7 . CRUSH?
As a way to celebrate the school days being finally over to go into summer break, you organized a sleepover, and now Atsumu, Osamu, Suna and Aran were there since the others couldn’t make it.
As you and the guys spoke about Osamu’s crush, you suddenly turned to Atsumu.
“And you? Any girl got your heart?” you smiled.
The room suddenly went silent, except for Suna’s low chuckle.
Atsumu was quiet too, he was thinking. Wasn’t he obvious enough? Didn’t he showed his feelings? His heart that beats to your name?
“No.” he looked down, cheeks getting red as he started fidgeting with the control he was holding.
You raised an eyebrow, looking at everyone else. It seemed like they all knew something you didn’t.
“Guys?” you mumbled, but everyone seemed to look away from you.
You looked back at Atsumu and saw his red cheeks, then you looked down, noticing your leg that was on top of his.
Suddenly something clicked in your head. And bells started ringing on your head.
Everything started making sense like a piece of a puzzle.
The girl he had a crush on, was you. Miya Atsumu had a deep crush on you and had been trying to show it to you the whole time.
And, oh god.
You were in love with him too.

HONEY AND I ARE IN LOVE , j. shlatt
c. playing snakes and ladders with schlatt.
"you rolled a six! deny it as many times as you want, but you're going down that snake."
you exclaimed, looking at schlatt with a triumphant grin since you were finally able to get ahead of him. the entire time you've been playing board games on a mundane thursday night with schlatt he's been adamant on shoving the fact that he's beaten you numerous times on every game you'd choose in your face.
shocked by the idea of losing to you at a kid's game, schlatt refused to move his cat piece. opting to scratch his facial hair in thought instead with a huff. so, being the kind person you are, you moved it for him. making sure to move it as slowly as possible to emphasize that he went a full 8 squares down the board since he landed on a snake.
"this isn't happening. you rigged the game, didn't you?!" he pointed an accusing finger, digging it into your cheek.
you swatted it away while giggling, "you just suck at one of the easiest games ever been made, loser."
schlatt watched as you picked up the pair of dice to roll it, grinning from ear to ear as he moved his focus from the board game to your face. your eyes were illuminated with joy, your pretty, pretty lips had a smile that he always loved looking at, and he could hear the small giggles you'd let out under your breath as you shook the die in your hands.
"boom. easiest snake eyes of my life." you lifted your dog piece from where it stood, all while looking at schlatt, "you know where i'm going? that's right. up the fucking ladder."
he wasn't really paying attention to the game anymore; he much wanted to gaze at your face instead. but he'd never admit that just yet. he leaned back from the chair and softly slammed his fist against the table, "you cheated!"
"get owned."
before you could move your piece to the final square of the game and secure your victory, schlatt stood up and lunged at you from the side and lifted you off your seat. effectively earning a loud shout of surprise accompanied by a hearty laughter. he threw you onto the couch, and laid on top of you.
"get off me you big hunk of meat!" you wrapped your arms around him, contradicting what you said.
"no chance toots. i'm not letting you put that piece down even if it's the last thing i do!"
you could feel his entire frame shake with each big chuckle he took on top of you. it wasn't a problem if he never let you go though, he felt warm. if you were given the opportunity to, you'd choose to never leave his embrace.
however, the sweet moment came to an end the moment you felt a pair of hands at your sides. you felt schlatt place a loving kiss on the side of your head before whispering, "the tickle monster's out to get you, spongebob."
fuck.

What do you think of jkr as a writer? I for one has always felt like she didn’t treat her female characters well. It felt strange, being critical of her when she was god queen of the earth, and also being 10
I think most of the problems in her books can be chalked up to genre hopping. Books 1-3 are perfectly good and serviceable children's books — great children's books, even! They have compelling, relatable characters and juicy mystery plots. They have problems, sure, but for the first three books someone's ever written — especially someone with little or no background in creative writing — they're really fucking good. So: there's her flowers.
The last four books pivot sharply into much more emotionally complicated and sociopolitically loaded territory, because they're describing a war. And it's hard to write children's books about war. I would venture you can't really do it, at least without dramatically misrepresenting what war is! And so Rowling makes the executive decision somewhere during the writing of Book 4 that she's not going to flinch away from that, she's going to go for dramatic realism, and she kills Cedric Diggory to let us know. People had died in Harry Potter before, of course — Quirrell gets sent to the fucking shadow realm, for example. But children haven't. (It also gives parents who are reading these books with their children a warning shot: shit is about to get significantly more real, think twice before you buy the next one of these for your 10-year-old.) After that, Rowling starts leaning much more into dramatic realism, and the fast-paced mystery-novel plotting of the first few books is replaced by a slow, simmering political conflict that unfurls over the course of about a million words.
The problem — besides the fact that she's picking one of the hardest things to write about, like, in all of literature, war is really insanely complicated and emotionally intense and hard to portray well — is that she's now trying to use characters, plot points, and technologies she developed for a children's series to enact a sprawling war drama among teenagers and adults. So Hermione, who was a reasonably precocious snobby eleven-year-old, becomes this sort of encyclopedic all-knowing savant of the wizarding world, who somehow remains functional and mostly even-headed despite her identity being the chief target of a prolifically murderous terrorist group. Draco Malfoy, a schoolyard bully whose primary tools included 1. namecalling and 2. telling teacher, JOINS said terrorist group (and admittedly does react reasonably, i.e., has a total crashout and takes to sobbing in a girls' bathroom whenever he gets a free minute). Dumbledore, who starts out as "whimsical friendly winky-wink trustworthy grandfather type", ends up being Magical Winston Churchill in a violent game of spycraft and espionage, eventually revealing he's only been keeping Harry at all these seven years because he wants to KILL him! And like, maybe really good technical writing could smooth out these transitions and make the first-order dramatic choices seem more natural, but Rowling is like, a Fine Writer, technically speaking. meaning she's reasonably consistent in characterization, her plotting is well-paced and believable, she has a clear authorial voice, and her prose is readable. personally, that's not enough to get me to buy into some of the changes that happen in the later books, and because she stuffs these things so full with new elements every installment, a lot of stuff ends up getting glossed over.
And like, I still love the books. I think they're wonderful, and they taught me how to read. but i can say that and also say that Rowling probably did herself a disservice by trying to write four giant war novels as sequels to her first three mystery children's books.
#i have this running theory that debut fantasy writers shoot themselves in the feet by trying to be tolkien#i.e. assuming because they're writing fantasy they have to write about war#but he wrote that because that was what he liked reading! it was what he thought a mythological epic should be#at the time LOTR was a WEIRD pitch for a book#fantasy was much more small-scale adventure like Lewis's Narnia books (which also end in a giant battle but like)#(it's not really the same thing. narnia doesn't run on realpolitik)#(it's Narnia)#I'd compare it to swiss family robinson and treasure island and the adventure stories of Jules Verne#then tolkien comes along and is like. WHAM. Bitch I Put Elves In The Somme#and everyone was like ??? HOT DAMN#but the thing is. once you've seen Elves In The Somme. and it's THAT good. the Hot Damn effect wears off some#so all these fantasy authors start writing vaguely medieval war stories because that's what Tolkien did! and they love him!#but the difference between mimicry and inspiration is your willingness to depart from the source#there are a lot of other plots out there! hundreds! thousands even!!#harry potter books you didn't need to do this! harry potter you could have just been cool mysteries!#but i dunno maybe people started talking about her as the next tolkien and she got scared of disappointing them#and like having said all that. considering the obvious anxiety of influence and the genre hop and the rough technical spots.#the harry potter books are REMARKABLY good.#what you have in them is an author's first attempt at longform serial storytelling EVER#and it's ambitious as hell and it has a billion characters and you know what? she mostly pulls it off!#we rag on it for being messy at the edges because It Is and I wouldn't be writing fanfic if I didn't have some qualms#or at least areas I think could bear more explaining. but there are Reasons it went that way

A desperate cry on your deathbed leads to you being given a fresh start at life. You're overjoyed at having finally obtained a healthy body and a real chance at living normally, only to discover that you've been transported into a yandere game, where danger lurks at every corner. Determined to protect your new life at any cost, you vow to stay as far away from the major characters of the game as possible. But things don't always go as planned.
previous | story masterlist | next
Sergei Garin. A major supporting character in Zodin’s Benevolence, and a man unfortunate enough to have fallen in love with the protagonist, unaware of how many twisted yanderes were pining for her affection.
The game branched off from the main storyline after the player picked enough choices that would put them on a certain yandere’s route. Needless to say, regardless of whoever’s route it was, Sergei ended up dead in some shape or form. He wasn’t always killed off by one of the yanderes, but his self-sacrificial nature, especially towards the protagonist, sealed his fate no matter what. He would either protect the protagonist until his dying breath, or be killed off by a yandere when they discovered Sergei’s romantic feelings towards her.
Put simply, he didn’t have any good endings. Which is why seeing him here, right in front of your very eyes, was something both awe-inducing and incredibly depressing. He didn’t even know it yet, but his days were numbered.
Is it possible to keep him from dying? So long as he doesn’t meet the protagonist, then...
You quickly shook your head. No, you couldn’t think like that. You’d already made up your mind not to interfere with the canon events of the game. If you tried to protect Sergei, you could unwittingly place yourself in danger. As upsetting as it was, you couldn’t risk interfering.
“Er, my lady?” Sergei frowned. “Is everything alright? Were you perhaps expecting someone else...?”
“Not at all!” you spluttered. “I’m very happy you’re here! Sorry, I’m just really eager to start training, so I guess I must look like I’m a bit out of it. It’s nice to meet you, Sergei. I’m [Name], as you already know. Thank you for making the effort to be here on such short notice.”
“It would have been discourteous to refuse your family’s request. Although, it was certainly a rather strange request,” he said with a knit brow.
You laughed. “Right. Sorry. It’s probably not every day a noblewoman decides to take up sword-fighting. But I’ve always been interested in it, and what’s the harm in learning to protect myself?”
“It’s far from traditional,” he admitted, “but I’m not one to scorn a person looking to hone their strength. If this is truly what you want to do, I will do my best to facilitate the process for you.”
“Great! So, can I try swinging a sword now?”
“I’d say it’s a bit early for wielding a real blade, so you can start with a wooden sword first.” He removed the bag he’d been carrying over his shoulders and pulled out two wooden swords. One of them was noticeably bigger than the other. He handed you the smallest of the two.
You weighed the object in your hands. “It’s a bit heavier than I was expecting. Aren’t these things usually hollow on the inside?”
“They can be. But I thought it was better for you to get used to something with a bit more weight to it, especially since a real sword is quite heavy.”
“Pfft, I’m sure I can handle it,” you waved off, grossly overconfident for some reason.
Sergei gave you an unimpressed look. “And what makes you so sure?”
“Uh... I’m optimistic?”
“I see. So, no real reason, then.”
“Ugh.” You obviously couldn’t tell him that you’d watched countless anime and were stupidly hoping that the moves you’d seen there could be somehow applied to real life.
Sergei took a step back and crossed his arms. “Show me how you would swing that thing. Treat it as if it is a real sword. Go on, I’m curious to see what kind of approach you’ll have.”
“Ready to be impressed?” you grinned.
“No, not really.”
“Hey!”
Sergei looked like he wanted to crack a smile, but he maintained his stern, stoic expression. He wasn’t fooling you. You already knew full well from the game that despite his serious-looking face and rather blunt mannerisms, he was a real gentleman at heart.
“Okay... here goes nothing!”
You inhaled sharply, gathering up all your energy, then proceeded to lunge forward and slash the wooden sword through the air, in a downwards motion.
“Ooh, that actually felt pretty powerful!” you enthused, turning towards Sergei with a bright smile. “Well? How was it? Amazing, huh?”
Sergei’s expression hadn’t changed. “Definitely not amazing.”
“But pretty good, though?”
“Definitely not good.”
“Uh... at least sort of okay?”
He didn’t respond, which made you nervous. What was the big deal? It was just a wooden sword, for crying out loud! And it was your first time swinging one. For a total newbie, it couldn’t have been that bad.
“Sort of okay,” Sergei hummed, pressing his forefinger against his lips. “I suppose that’s a reasonably accurate description. Then again, it’s only a wooden sword. If you were to replicate that same motion with a real sword, your score would drop considerably.”
“You’re scoring me?” you gaped.
He tapped on his head, smiling faintly. “In here, yes. But I’ll be keeping your scores to myself, so as not to discourage you.”
“That just means I suck!”
“There’s no point in getting worked up right at the start. Come on, try swinging it again. This time, adjust your grip so that it stays higher on the hilt. It’ll be easier for you to swing it that way. And make sure to keep your torso firm. A strong foundation is what determines how hard your attack will hit.”
“Like this?” you asked, inadvertently arching your back.
“What? No, that’s not—ah, I’ll just show you myself,” he sighed, picking up his own sword. “Look closely now. See how I hold the sword, and what angle I’m striking at. See how my body stays perfectly straight and doesn’t wobble around the way yours does.”
It was only a wooden sword, but you could swear you felt the air in front of you being sliced in half. His motion left a distinct whipping noise behind, fierce enough that it rang in your ears.
Sergei looked back towards you. “Do you understand now?”
“Totally,” you nodded. “Basically, it’s all about how big your muscles are.”
“I see you’ve understood nothing.”
“I was just kidding! Look, I’ll do it again.” You took up your stance, tensing up just enough that your torse was nice and stable, just like Sergei had said. With even more strength than before, you stepped forward and swung downwards. “Hyah!”
You were hoping to have been met with enthusiastic clapping, but Sergei was merely staring at you in disbelief.
“What was that sound you just made?”
“A battle cry, I think.”
“I can assure you it was not a battle cry,” he frowned, pinching the bridge of his nose. “And a lady like you shouldn’t be making such vocalizations anyways.”
“But I thought a battle cry drastically enhances your physical prowess.”
“...”
“I'm getting the impression that you might not want to be here.”
“You’re imagining it,” Sergei coughed into his hand. “Anyways. It was... better, I suppose. But you still need a lot more work. Keep repeating that same motion with your wooden sword, and I’ll be watching you to make sure you have proper form.”
“But that’s boring,” you whined. “I want to move on to using a real sword. A wooden sword won’t be enough to protect myself with.”
“I understand that you’re excited, but why do you keep stressing that you’ll need to protect yourself?” he frowned. “A lady like you should never have to fear for her safety. Is there something in particular you’re worried about?”
Yes. The crazy bastards that live in this world.
“Not really,” you lied. “But you never know what could go wrong, right? It’s best to be prepared for even the worst-case scenario. It’s a dangerous world out there for women, you know.”
“That’s certainly true,” Sergei nodded. “I must say, you’re quite earnest, trying to prepare yourself for situations like that. It doesn’t exactly match your personality.”
“Hey, what’s wrong with my personality?”
“Nothing, of course.” He bit back a chuckle. “Forgive me. I just meant that of all the noblewomen I’ve ever met, you stand out quite a bit. You don’t seem anywhere near as concerned with etiquette, and you’re even treating someone like me as your equal. Perhaps that’s why I’ve gotten comfortable voicing my opinions.”
“Well, that’s not surprising,” you said, proudly sticking your nose into the air. “I am pretty amazing.”
“And your boundless confidence leaves nothing to be desired, that’s for sure.”
“I’m going to take that as a compliment.”
“Yes, please do.”
You rolled your eyes at him, though it was in a playful, well-intentioned way. Even if Sergei’s tale was a sad one, you were happy to be interacting with one of your favorite characters from the game. There were few genuinely good people in Zodin’s Benevolence, apart from the protagonist, and he was definitely one of them.
“Just you wait,” you huffed. “I’m going to become so good at wielding a sword, I’ll surpass you in no time.”
Although Sergei’s expression was stern, his eyes were filled with mirth.
“I look forward to seeing it.”
Tumblr media
In the end, you hadn’t gotten to use a real sword even once during your training session with Sergei. It was a bit disappointing, but he was the instructor, so you had no choice but to trust in his judgment. It was probably for the best that you build up some skills and confidence first, before attempting the real deal. Plus, the plot had yet to officially begin, so you weren’t in any imminent danger.
Your parents frantically approached you after your session was over, checking you all over for any cuts or bruises. When you told them you hadn’t even gotten to try out a proper sword yet, they exhaled loudly. Look at you, endlessly worrying your parents even in a different world. Some things never changed.
Still, you felt confident about the way you were choosing to approach things. There was no reason to afraid so long as you never interacted with the yanderes or the protagonist. Although the initial revelation about being transported into a game had come as a massive shock, you could very well live out a happy life here, just like you’d always wanted.
“You seem like you’re having a good time.”
Sometime after your training had come to an end, and you were relaxing in a bubble bath, you began to hear an oddly familiar, distinctively masculine voice in your head.
“Hello?” you jolted, glancing around. There was no one, as expected. You were all alone in the bathroom, and even your bedroom was empty since the servants had left to give you space to relax.
No response came, so you sank deeper into the bath, knitting your brows together. Was it just your imagination? A lot of strange things had happened to you recently, so you wouldn’t be surprised if you were hearing the odd remark every now and then. But that voice... you knew you’d heard it somewhere before. It was practically on the tip of your tongue.
“Hehe. It’s fun watching you get all worked up over nothing. Your reactions are so expressive.”
“Um—?!” You glanced around for the second time, but there was nobody there again. The voice was definitely coming from your head, and based on what it was saying, it didn’t seem like it was just your imagination.
You clutched your arms around your chest, though the bubbles concealed most of everything, because apparently, they could see you right now.
“This isn’t cool,” you muttered. “Whoever you are, can you give it a rest? How are you even talking to me right now? You’re freaking me out.”
“I’m afraid that’s a secret. You’ll find out soon enough, I’m sure.”
Great. As if you didn’t already have enough things to worry about with yanderes dominating the major plot of this world, now you had some creepy voice that could talk to you whenever it liked. And why did it sound so familiar?
Could it be...?
You didn’t know for certain, since you’d literally been dying at the time, but a strange voice had called out to you back then too. That voice was the whole reason you’d been transported here in the first place. Was this that same voice? The higher power that had saved you and given you a new chance at life?
“Are you the one that saved me when I was dying?” you asked.
No response. Either they had no idea what you were talking about, or they really were the same being from before, and they were deliberating avoiding your question.
“Fine, don’t respond,” you sighed, lathering bubbles and squishing them between your palms.
“I’m not sure what you’re talking about, but I definitely didn’t save anyone who was dying.”
Ah, so they were still here.
“Who are you, then?”
“Like I said—that’s a secret.”
“Ugh. Great. Looks like I’m not going to be able to sleep tonight.”
“I’m not here to hurt you, if that’s what you’re worried about. I’m just here to observe. Don’t worry about me and just focus on what you’ve been doing up until now. It’s quite amusing.”
You weren’t sure how you felt about someone calling your life amusing, but it wasn’t like you could do anything about it. At the very least, you knew whoever this was wasn’t one of the yanderes, because none of them had these kinds of strange powers. The owner of the voice had promised not to hurt you, still, you weren’t sure how much you could trust them, especially since you didn’t even know who they were.
For the time being, you just had one simple request.
“Please don’t spy on me while I’m taking a bath from now on,” you said crossly.
Instead of answering, the voice laughed.

↻ FLIP FLOP: send me a scene from one of my fics and I’ll describe or write it from another character’s POV! and i just want to take you home
What's Daniel's thoughts before he's like... well Max lives here too.. CAT ROOM!
Thank you for the ask, bestie ❤️! Here's a little scene about Daniel's thought process behind the cat room (here's the fic for context ^^)
“Jesus, Sassy, you’re gonna make me trip!”
Daniel giggles, narrowly missing what seems like a very painful encounter with the floor. Sassy, the little shit, just blinks at him, completely unbothered.
“Come here, kitty. Where did you leave your toys, huh?”
He leans down, and Sassy immediately scrambles to climb in his arms, her little trimmed nails stinging a bit, but Daniel got used to it after a while. Max says she hates to be picked up, but Sassy loves to curl up in Daniel’s arms or drape over his shoulder like a fuzzy scarf. Daniel thinks it’s more that Sassy doesn’t like random people barging in and trying to pick her up without asking for permission. He pets her, chuckling when she nuzzles in the crook of his elbow, her little wet nose pressed against his skin, and starts to purr softly.
“You’re a spoiled little princess, aren’t you, Sassy girl?”
Daniel makes his way to the living room, swearing when he almost trips again, this time because of the numerous cat toys spread around the living room floor. Now that he sees it, he can’t help but notice the sheer amount of toys scattered everywhere. Taking advantage of his distracted state, Sassy gracefully jumps down from his arms, pouncing on one of the many little mice toys on the floor. Daniel sighs.
He doesn’t especially want to clear the room from toys, but it’s getting a bit too dangerous to have them scattered around like that. One of them will end up falling, he’s sure of it.
He sits down on the couch, pondering the issue. Jimmy comes to curl up on his lap after a while, deciding it’s the perfect spot for an impromptu nap, and Daniel carefully pets him. He didn’t think of himself as a cat person, but he had learned to love the two little fur babies, like Max calls them, and he couldn’t deny that cuddling and playing with them was relaxing.
Little fur babies. They were kind of like Max’s kids, to be fair.
Wait.
Didn’t some kids have a playroom for their toys?
If he was in a cartoon, Daniel is sure a metaphorical lightbulb would have lit up right next to his head.
A playroom!
Daniel was going to build a playroom for Jimmy and Sassy, and he was going to do it all by himself! He certainly had enough rooms to spare, and the kitty cats definitely deserved a space dedicated to them. He’s sure Maxy will love the surprise, too.
Sassy leaves her toys, deciding to come and snuggle against his thigh. Daniel watches for a while as the two cats nap, before pulling out his phone, ordering some material.
He was going to build the best cat playroom the world has ever seen, all for their little fur babies.
fic ask game!

zhong chenle - "pickup lines"
Tumblr media
genre - angsty romance. word count - 903 ~~in which chenle wins you back, with his manipulation tactics and pickup lines. to: @chenlezip. "anna my love <3 i'll hunt your ex down to the ends of the earth and i'll make sure to bring an umbrella with me everywhere so that if i find him i can shove it up his fucking ass and open it!!" with love, jjjjeonww.
friday, 1:27pm: you were outside, sitting in a cafe, taking care of some work before giving yourself some downtime after a long week. meanwhile chenle was bored. he scrolled on his phone, watching videos both sad and funny to try and get his mind off you. was life this boring without having someone under his control? and so, he couldn't resist sending you a cheesy pick-up line. seriously, who did this guy think he was? why would you even bother responding to him? he's your ex for a reason. ignore his message and let him suffer the consequences.
Tumblr media
saturday, 11:43am. why does he keep texting you? can't he just leave you alone? you wouldn't want to be responding to him after what he's done right? but, you also remembered the conversation you both had shared. ...flashback: you were lounging on the couch, chenle's arms wrapped around you. you were reading a book, a shitty romance book about how the main character, lewis had cheated on his girlfriend, rebecca, with another girl. in that moment you were focused on the book, completely unaware that in a few months time, lewis would be chenle, and you'd be rebecca. out of the blue, chenle whispered, "whoever says that 'disneyland is the happiest place to be' has obviously never been by your side." his breath on your neck with each syllable. you hit his arm playfully in fake annoyance, "you're so bad at pickup lines!"
Tumblr media
sunday, 5:53pm. you couldn't handle the way your phone would buzz or light up at the most random times. it wasn't from your friends, or family, or even classmates. it was from chenle the great. did leaving him on read each time he texted not enough for him to take the hint? he'd put a spell on you, one where he exuded his charm, one where he somehow had you head over heels for him in just a snap. it was your turn to put the spell on him, the spell of 'not replying.' or just replying dryly.
Tumblr media
monday, 3:25pm. chenle's job: send you pick up lines on a daily basis. chenle's former job: not to 'happily' form another relationship while still being with you. damn zhong chenle for being so loveable. and damn you for still loving him.
Tumblr media
tuesday, 8:09pm. no. why did you reply to him? why? to get manipulated once again? to let chenle deceive you? why DIDN'T you block him? do you... still love him? chenle's jobs: break you into pieces (ticked!) chenle's NEW jobs: mold you into what he wants. flashback: the day you found out about chenle and his other chick, you were horrified. you had loved him for so long, and you still love him, and you were convinced that he loved you back. you were at home, waiting for chenle to come back so you could eat the freshly-cooked dinner you had made. instead you get a text from your friend, jaewon, saying that she had just seen chenle and another girl in the restaurant she worked in, and a picture sent. it really was chenle with another girl, and his neck was full of lipstick marks. not yours, but that girl's. you didn't know what to do, so you took all of your belongings from chenle's place and went to yours. you ignored all of his calls and texts, thinking that your heart would heal faster. and when he showed up at your doorstep, you ignored him. even when it was raining heavily. you felt guilty. yes you did, to make him wait outside for an hour, to make him look like an idiot, which he was, obviously you would feel guilty. unfortunately, this was karma served cold. but you did infact, run away from the problem.
Tumblr media
but what else could you do? its zhong chenle. you'll always be head over heels for him. and you'll always be the pawn of his deception game.

Can we talk about how Kadar says to Altaïr in the beginning: "An excellent kill! Fortune favors your blade!", and then in the bureau with Malik, before Altaïr goes to meet "Robert", Malik says to him "Fortune favor your blade, brother."
And then THAT is what prompts Altaïr to actually finally apologize to him?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
(It's these little things in the writing that make me go feral! Another one of my favorite parts is Altaïr and Malik calling each other "Dai" - Altaïr first calls Malik Dai before doing investigations during the Majd Addin mission, showing his character growth in how he's willing to humble himself in front of Malik by basically acknowledging him as a superior of sorts (he's even THANKING him here for his help - compare this to "I am your superior, in both title and ability! You should know better than to question me!"), and then when they last talk before Altaïr goes to confront Al Mualim, Malik calls HIM Dai, in turn acknowledging his growth 😭 I just... I love them so much, I don't even know what to do with myself anymore.)

undertale yellow. clutches head in anguish.
#[cherry on top]#undertale yellow spoilers#[..its still you]#anyways. finished my uty playthrough yesterday. oh my god.#^ that might be a bit of a surprise given that ive said like. nothing about it on here#but honestly i felt like positive-neutral about the game for most of it. like yeah it was good;#but nothing that drove me crazy. yknow? it was just an overall good game.#which is why i didnt really say anything about it#then it started picking up near the middle-end with the steamworks-#i enjoyed axis and guardener a lot; ceroba was a cool party member;#and the music in steamworks goes hard. one of my favorite tracks tbh#then there was the buildup to cerobas fight.#then i /got/ to cerobas fight and. crumples up into a ball AAUUUUUUUUUU#OH MY GODDDDDD#something about it made me shatter into a million tiny pieces.#a lot of things did actually. like how HARD IT WAS#i was stuck on her for OVER AN HOUR#BUT I DID IT. I DID IT LEGIT. IT WAS SO SATISFYING WHEN I FINALLY BEAT HER#god im just insane about ceroba rn. women who fuck up everything big time#and see no other option other than to dig their hole deeper because they sure as hell arent getting out of it#OH AND THE ENDING... BECAUSE OH MY GODDDD OF COURSE CLOVER WOULD DO THAT AHUGHHHHH#THEY'RE THE JUSTICE SOUL. THEY WANTED TO BRING MONSTERS TO JUSTICE AFTER ALL THEY FACED#OF FUCKING COURRSSSEEEEEEE AAAUUGHHHHH <- wail of anguish#KILLING AND MAIMING AND BITING.#SORRY. i needed to lose it for my mental health. quoting that one tiktok: 'im craeezay. im insaaane!'#for other tidbits i wanted to mention:#cerobas bossfight music went HARD. i fucking love the phase 3 transition especially with her yelling as the music starts;#that black hole attack can go fuck itself;#and if you were wondering how long it took me to beat uty. it was around 10-11 hours for a pacifist route.#anyways i totally need to play more games. that was fucking awesome and i need to experience more things like that

ive made my feelings on veilguard clear atp but i WILL say as a tragedy enjoyer act 3 really redeems sooooo much of it for me. esp having my rook-and-siblings worldstate bc let me tell u 3 rooks = 3 separate tragedies is DOING it for me rn. a bellaramancer a hardingmancer and a varricmancer walk into a bar. they all walk out single 😍
#tay plays datv#datv spoilers#datv#genuinely so funny that in my canon worldstate ashara is the ONLY one who gets an ~officially~ happy ending#tho she suffered more than jesus to get it lol#(and can i just say ''ashara goes to silent hill'' being her HAPPY ending is everything i have EVER wanted for the end of her arc kfgjfkg)#but elspeth is for sure dead in datv and probs alistair too bc in my head any alternative is worse#cillian is dead. anders in my heart is also dead#bellara dead. harding dead. varric dead. SHITS CRAZY LOL...... KIND OF LOVE IT TBH.......#< girls when theyre fucking sick in the head 😍#anyway despite the misery im actually kind of feeling like deia/matthas/evander get one of the happiest endings out of all of them#bc its like.... yes all their lovers are dead. but theyre forever bonded in love and theyre a family again and ALWAYS will be#theyll grieve but they wont be grieving alone. there is capacity for healing together#also. to me dragon age has always been about the inherently destructive nature of self mythology and people falling into legend#elspeth/cillian/ashara are all destroyed by it and thats why they cant exist in the world. they HAVE 2 die or go to silent hill superhell#deia/matthas/evander and the ONLY ones who remain PEOPLE after everything. just people. they can fade into obscurity if they want#or continue fighting the good fight - in a normal person way#whatever they pick the choice is ultimately up to them..which is a choice my other protags have never had as an option#anyway. as i said. this game goes so fucking hard when you're hallucinating 70% of it#oc: ashara#oc: elspeth#oc: cillian#oc: deia#oc: evander#oc: matthas

Apparently I can meet my goal of roughly 400,000 words in 6 months if I just somehow write at least 2,200 words a day ghbjh... Almost 2,500 today... huzzah...
#Definitely not going to be able to stick with it just due to like... being realistic about my energy levels and etc. ESPECIALLY as we#enter the Evil Summer and it becomes hot all the time. But... one can attempt.. at least...#I'm also a very slow writer since I tend to re-read and edit while I write. and only move onto the next section once what I'm writing#seems okay. Which is easy for visual novel type stuff. since ''sections'' of a conversation are more clearly marked (like if you#have a menu option with 5 different dialogue choices. finish the character's response for choice 1 before moving onto 2. etc.)#Especially since when I'm done with a whole quest I always follow it up by playing through it and picking every option and making sure it#actually all works okay and etc. So I am already going to see it all a second time. Then I can go back and reorder a few words or remove#certain sentences that don't sound natural when I read them out loud (I always read it all outloud to myself since it is... just peple#talking.. it should sound like natural dialogue in their voice. etc). But my ''first draft'' is kind of not as first drafty since I pause t#edit a lot as I go along. So it also takes longer probably than it would take other people who I think treat a first draft as more#of a loose guideline or something. AANYWAY...#80F in my bedroom right now again... huzzah... I did end up finishing and recording that sims build video before the heat wave (or is#it really a heat wave if it's just summer..?? lol) came in.. but now... augh.. the editing... plus the costume photos and all else... Much#to do as always.. Often such a long todo list.. a giant scroll hung upon the walls of the evil hermit wizard tower..#Anyhow.. I hope I can finish getting ready for bed early in time to reward myself with a game of tripeaks solitaire whilst I snack on#cheddar cheese and some of those preserved artichokes in a jar. hrgm... I actually have nasturtiums (ultimate best flower) on the#deck again this year but I had to move them all into a corner today because the leaves were getting burnt by the sun lol.. Also am now more#cautiously weaving through social media to ignore all dragon age news. NOT bc of spoilers (I actually love spoilers/literally never play#any game until there's full guides on it I can read to plan my entire playthrough based on knowing exactly what I want to happen lol + mods#and etc.) but just because I'm so busy with my ownprojects I simply do not have the brainspace to dedicate... Yes I love to think#about elves and fictional universe lore. but no.. I pretend I do not see it. Does not exist to me actually. ghgj.. OHH also took som#cool pictures of flowers in the garden section of a store and I wanted to do like.. character designs based on the colors of the flowers o#something. but that might just be another unnecessary project to add to the pile.. I want to commit to the daunting task of dyeing my#hair again some time.. hrm.. this is all of the updates I can think of. As if a bunch of random tags make up for never posting anything for#weeks on end lol.. alas.. too warm to think properly I suppose.. .. I neeeeeed a long lost relative to leave me some million dollar#estate in their will so I can have the resources to move to a colder climate or something ..augh#.. but for now.. I shall toil away in my little wizard tower trying to write 2000 something words a day whilst sweating and such ghbj
